Snow Day 2010

February 18, 2010

We thought the snow might pass us by, but by late morning last Friday the snow started to fall in beautiful large flakes. By the afternoon, our city was covered in a beautiful blanket.  This was Maddie’s first real snow, where she could go out and enjoy the crisp winter air.

The best of both worlds

Friday, with the snow falling in beautiful white wisps, we curled up in blankets and sipped coffee and nibbled on chocolate chip cookies. I read my brand new issue of Southern Living from cover to cover, dreaming of daffodils poking their sunny heads from the cold earth and warmer days ahead.

The next day the temperature warmed up enough for a joyful play day in the snow. I thought Maddie wouldn’t be too excited about the cold white stuff, but she couldn’t have been more thrilled.  We took a leisurely stroll around the block, allowing Maddie to walk by herself instead of riding in the stroller. Every time we came back inside, she kept saying “Out!” and standing by the back door hoping to return to the cold. So cute!

We even tried to get Lucy involved in the festivities, but alas, she was not amused.  She darted back into the house as quickly as she could!

I love those pictures! Is Maddie talking more now? I can totally see her having a blast in the snow. 🙂 Are you letting the cats outside?

By the way, I love Maddie’s sweater in that last pic! 🙂

Thanks! We received that sweater as a Christmas gift. I think it’s so cute too! Maddie is talking more now. Just a few more words here and there. She is gesturing more as well, so she is able to get her point across more clearly.
